Inha Designated as One of the Best Universities in Korea to Offer International Education
Inha University has obtained the ‘International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS)’ accreditation for its undergraduate courses by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST). Inha is the only 4 year comprehensive university in the City of Incheon to receive the accreditation. Total 26 universities got the accreditation among 212 universities in Korea (2 year colleges not included).
The IEQAS was first introduced in 2011 by the MEST to help support international students' studying in Korea by enhancing Korean universities' academic quality. According to the MEST, the IEQAS is aimed at fortifying domestic universities' management skills of international students by suggesting ideal standards for the recruitment and management of international students. It also seeks to prevent underperforming universities from taking advantage of funding resources by recruiting international students.
Inha was commended by the MEST for its top quality services and academic support for international students. It also received a favorable remark from the government for its various international programs including cultural programs and scholarships as well as its dormitory accommodation for international students.
The IEQAS accreditation is valid for 3 years, and the Government of Korea made its university evaluations public so that international students can make informed choices where selecting a school in Korea. In addition, it also shares the school information with its counterparts in other countries and provides financial incentives to the accredited universities for their academic programs.
"Through the IEQAS accreditation, Inha will be able to push one step forward towards internationalization", the International Center officials at Inha said.
Currently, there are approx. 1,000 international students from 52 countries studying at Inha.
