Introduction

The main objective of the department of Mechanical Engineering is to train students to become competent and professional engineers and to lead in the development of engineering technologies. To cultivate both general and technological knowledge at the same time, the School of Mechanical Engineering provides various courses in humanities, sciences and mechanical engineering fields and practical mechanical engineering skills through various experiments and practice. Since its foundation in 1954 as the Department of Mechanical Engineering in College of Engineering, it was reorganized into the Department of Mechanical Engineering in School of Mechanical Engineering in 2004. Graduate courses were established in 1958 and Doctoral courses started in 1970.

Through the best educational program for mechanical engineering, the School’s goal is to obtain excellent and professional engineers who actively resolve engineering issues with creativity and comprehensiveness, based on sound basic study and practice, and who can adapt to industrial fields.

Vision after Graduation

Opportunities within large enterprises, graduate courses, and civil service are some of the options that students consider after graduation. Inha University graduates, between 2005 and 2007, entered Samsung (124), LG (49), and Hyundai (104). As well, other graduates have chosen to enter graduate courses, to go into KIST, to study abroad, and to become patent attorneys.
