Statistics
HomepageIntroduction
This being the century of Information Technology, students need access to useful information from a large set of data. Statistics provides students with both the theory and the tools to meet these needs. Statistical methodologies are applied to a broad range of scientific disciplines such as mathematical science, biological science, economics, sociology and psychology.
The Department of Statistics was established in 1987, with the Master's and Ph.D. programs being added in 1991 and 1995, respectively. With the rapid development of computing power, statistical tools are now being used in many fields including engineering, image processing and biological science.
